Reception – Sunday Evening

A reception will be offered on Sunday evening from 19h30 onwards. It will include a hot buffet with drinks, a Welsh crash course, and a Cèilidh live band with dancing. For those who have never tried Cèilidh dancing, it does not require any artistic ability, although some stamina and a good sense of humour are advised. Should be fun!

Organised Excursions – Monday afternoon

On the Monday afternoon you will have the opportunity to take part in one of three excursions (packed lunch provided). Bookings benefit from reduced rates of £10 each including transportation. Bookings should be made through the Bangor University Online Shop before 15th September 2016.

1. Bodnant Gardens

Bodnant Gardens

Bodnant Gardens

Bodnant Gardens are owned by the National Trust and were created over 150 years by generations of the McClaren family. The spectacular gardens are a centre of horticultural excellence, set deep in the Conwy valley, with 80 acres of wood walks and gardens, overlooked by the Carneddau mountains of Snowdownia. In October, you will be greeted by autumnal colours, late roses and hydrangeas. Bring a coat and some sturdy boots.

2. Walled Town of Conwy and Conwy Castle

Conwy Castle

Conwy Castle

Conwy Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site that sits at the mouth of the River Conwy and stands guarding the approach to the medieval walled town of Conwy, where it has stood since the 13th Century. You will be able to roam the castle the walls and the town itself. The walls that encompass Conwy are largely intact, despite substantial military action, meaning that it is possible to walk almost the full length of the fortifications. Anybody who is interested in a 45-minute guided tour of the Castle should indicate this when they book for the Conwy Castle excursion. There are a number of steps in the castle, which are slippery when wet. Please make sure you bring suitable footwear.

This excursion is capped at 50.

3. Great Orme Tour in a Vintage Bus
