Welcome to our information page about the 53rd annual meeting of the Academy of Aphasia in Tucson, Arizona. Platform and poster sessions, two symposia, and a keynote address by distinguished speaker, Prof. Marta Kutas, will fill the program from Sunday morning, October 18 through Tuesday afternoon, October 20. The full program can be found here and we look forward to seeing you at what will be a most interesting conference.

Special events this year include "An Hour with Audrey Holland", an opportunity for students, postdocs and others new to the field to meet with Professor Holland over an informal lunch, to ask questions or get general advice about our field. This event will take place on Sunday over boxed lunches. No need to sign up; the specific location within the resort will be announced that morning. We hope this will be the first of many such opportunities for students and fellows to gather with distinguished members of the field in an informal setting.

This year's meeting will be held at the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa. This award-winning hotel is located on 80 acres of land at the outskirts of town, a perfect spot to enjoy the desert wonders of the Southwest. Amenities include two restaurants, swimming pools, a spa, hot tub, and fitness center, with hiking, biking, golfing, and horseback riding readily available. The hotel has offered us an outstanding room rate: $159/night for a single or double room, $169/night for a triple, and $179 for a room that sleeps four. Please identify yourself as part of the Academy group in order to receive this exceptional rate. We strongly encourage everyone to stay at the Resort, as other hotels are farther away and the distance will lessen this great opportunity to us to interact. Please book by September 22.

Meeting Registration

To register for the meeting, please click here. This year's registration rates will include several meals to further facilitate interaction among attendees. Breakfast, lunch, as well as morning and afternoon coffee breaks will be provided. A reception after the keynote address will also provide "heavy" hors d'oeuvres; only the first evening meal is not hosted. However, the hotels' onsite restaurant is open until 10 pm and other restaurants are a short cab ride away. Please register by September 20, 2015 to get the special pre-registration rate. How to get to Tuscon and the Westward Look:

There are two ways to get to Tucson; one is to fly directly to Tucson, then take a cab to the hotel. The fee is roughly $50 each way. Alternatively, you can fly to Phoenix, and either rent a car or take the Arizona Shuttle. If you do the latter, it is wise to make a reservation via their website at www.arizonashuttle.com. The shuttle fee is $41 with advance registration, and $45 on the same day. Ask the driver to let you off at Ina Road. From there it is a brief 3-mile taxi ride to the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa.

Don't Forget About Our Mentoring Program

Now in its fifth year, a formal mentoring program between student/post-doc first authors and seasoned researchers will take place during the meeting. Selected mentor/mentee pairs will interact at poster sessions or after platform sessions and at an informal lunch about careers in academia, research, publishing, and grant funding. Please sign up by emailing kirans@bu.edu if you are interested in participating in this mentoring program either as a mentee (junior investigator) or a mentor (senior investigator).
